Ou...Yes - Sydney Anglicans like to rewrite history. Ould has claimed elsewhere that evangelicals abolished slavery. This is simply wrong. It was the quakers who first raised their voices against slavery. Many southern US evangelicals defended slavery vehemently arguing with the same warped logic that people like Mark Driscoll argue with. Those evangelicals that did come aboard were not of the same ilk - they were compassionate and thoughtful people unlike Sydney evangelicals today. Sydney evangelicals will be on the wrong side of history on the gay marriage debate as well. I can just seem them trying to scramble around that in the future too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
