Keith Mascord, a former Moore College lecturer, writes ... a number of studies have consistently suggested that egalitarian relationships have higher levels of couple satisfaction and lower rates of conflict and violence.

Keith Mascord has written an article on his 'A Restless Faith, Leaving Fundamentalism in a Quest for God' blog about Peter Jensen's efforts at convincing Sydney to embrace his new marriage vows of female submission. Keith says...‘Patriarchy comes under significant attack in the ministry of Jesus, or at least earlier expressions of it do. Women are given the right to divorce their husbands (Mark 10:12). Jesus treats women with great respect, and readily accepts them as his disciples. He significantly elevates their status and role. Jesus’ example is followed by his apostles, including Paul. Paul may not have gone all the way towards dismantling patriarchy. However, one could argue that the trajectory established by Jesus and honoured by Paul was of such a nature that patriarchy, like slavery, can reasonably be set aside, especially in a world where women have come to show themselves capable of holding their own at all levels of human endeavour.’
The reason that patriarchy doesn’t seem to work, or to have practical purchase, in happily functioning Christian marriages is that the gospel has made it irrelevant. Efforts to make it relevant necessarily involve some form of restriction (whether voluntary or not) to female agency; some loss of power. That, I think, is why Sydney has reacted so angrily to Archbishop Peter’s irenic effort to argue for submission. It is not something Sydney wants. It is not something that most of Sydney’s Christians want, nor even most of Sydney’s Anglican Christians – I would guess.

Say Calam... is the lady in the picture one of them fine Sydney Anglican women who stands along Phillip Jensen, in telling young girls that they must put all their hopes and dreams on hold to serve God because God only lets men fulfil their hopes and dreams?
Well I reckon so Bill...but  do you know that all this submission crap is to protect the role of male clergy. Sydney Anglicans can't let their women become too empowered and vocal ...or they might want to be ordained...and that would wreck one of the Jensen Inc's goals of ....a generational extermination of  Sydney Anglican feminists.

Will Sydney Anglicans label Channel 9, as Biblical heretics. with the screening of their new TV show called House Husbands

Did Peter Jensen say that we're not real men?

Boys don't let that Jensen fella get to you. You need to lsten to Haydn Sennitt....You just haven't had the male bonding needed to make you a man like me...You guys spent too much time hanging around your mother.

The Sydney Anglican boys who write for Matthias Media's, 'The Briefing', have opened up discussions about a husband's sacrificial love. The comments of course are closed to anyone who believes in egalitarianism...and all that can be concluded from the discussions, is that the only ones doing the sacrificing are the wives. The boys don't realise that submission cannot exist without sacrifice...but the boys being boys ...have absolutely no idea about women or submission.

Well what would you expect from a group of people with such a limited gene pool, that their marginalised are limited to professionals who don't like their jobs, complementarians who can't fulfil gender roles because of anomalies within the relationship, and those with reading disability! Say... didn't Dick Smith have a reading disability...Oh well..one out of three ain't bad!

Sydney Anglican, Archie Poulos writes about... Sydney Anglicans broadening their view of the 'marginalised'

Sydney Anglicans would only have to look sideways to broaden their view!

Surprise! Surprise! Like with the word 'submission', Sydney Anglicans have their own definition of the word marginalised. Archie Poulos says... One thing both Christians and unbelievers agree upon is the need to care for the marginalized in our society. I want to expand our thinking on who the marginalized might be... A great challenge for members of our churches is to stand in the shoes of a member of this marginalized community because, sadly, we often assume that such people are ‘just like us’ and will fit in. Consequently we do not even notice their marginalization.
Archie gives some examples of marginalised people... people who work in professional careers, but despise every minute of their work and cannot wait to remove themselves from it. It might be someone who is assumed to be literate but in fact is not so. It could be someone for whom we assume a specific family role, but who is unable to fulfill that role... ie a 'failed' complementarian .
Archie says that... Whenever we meet a person, we cannot help but make assumptions about them. ...We need to be willing to question what we understand as ‘normal’ and acceptable.
Sydney Anglicans had better not look to left like Jesus... they might have to face the LGBTI people, and the non-complementarians, that they have been responsible for marginalising, within their own diocese ...and throughout the world...and let's not forget the poor and homeless who might have been clothed and fed with the wasted, $160 million, stock market gamble!

Well I fit into the Sydney Anglican diocese OK!

Sydney Anglicans have buried the wife in submission...now let's see if the hole is big enough to hold the husband?

Lionel Windsor explains what the husband's sacrificial love looks like... but first the qualifier...

Usually, biblical principles will need to be applied in different ways in different contexts. In this case, since every man is different, and every woman is different, and therefore every marriage is different, the application of these principles will be different. Hence it would be a mistake to lay down absolute rules or policies. This discussion is more about godly wisdom, attitudes and desires, which are informed by biblical principles, and which work themselves out in different ways in different circumstances.

Lionel's second qualifier...

Paul is not saying that the husband-wife relationship is parallel to the Christ-church relationship at every point. When you think about it, that would be ludicrous, wouldn’t it? Nowhere does the Bible teach, for example, that all husbands are splendidly holy like Christ, or that only wives need cleansing of sin.

    • Lionel says...marriage is a one flesh relationship.... a Christ-oriented relationship and unlike a wife's love... a husband’s love is Christ-like and involves sacrifice.

What might that mean? It would be unfair to ask you what it would mean without giving some thoughts from my own life. So here’s some of the things it means in my own situation. We’ve just returned from a 3-year stint in the UK, where I was a theological student. Although we’ve been well provided for through generous donors, being in this situation has meant that I haven’t been able to ‘provide’ for my wife the same level of material security and stability that some of our peers enjoy. But that’s OK; our marriage is meant to be Christ-oriented, and we made the decision for me to do this study in order to serve Christ together. At the same time, my constant temptation is to be too absorbed with study. I really like reading and writing and preaching; and if I’m not careful, my wife gets the second-best of my energy and attention. I need to be pro-active in cherishing my wife; not just reactive. That sometimes means I need to say ‘no’ to more opportunities to read and write and preach. How do I actually go at loving my wife? Sometimes I fail; sometimes, by God’s grace, I succeed.

What's so special about all that? You have to give a little theologically (if you're not Phillip Jensen) because every man, woman and marriage is different... and then you compromise to meet your marriage goals....and for that you impose submission on half the population ...so you can feel like a man!  Pleeeease!!

Oh by the way Lionel...it looks to me like your wife is the one doing all the sacrificing... but you probably call that submission! The Theology of submission is written by men and for men ...and then propagated by brainwashed Sydney Anglican women.
I reckon Sydney Anglicans need to get out of their ivory 'St Andrew's Tower' ...and go and help someone... be much better than gamling money on the stock exchange...so the can win more money ...so they can inflict this submission crap on women in third world countries...the ones who really need liberating...and let's not forget the gays they've helped persecute in Uganda...Oh that's right...I nearly forgot...The Sydney Anglican diocese is all about promoting Matthias Media resources...

Sydney Anglican, Haydn Sennitt speaks about his narcissism and homosexuality at an Exodus Asia - Pacific Conference in Melbourne

I think I'll leave the commentry to The Rev. Dr. Christian Troll...a doctrinal warrior and a man well versed in narcissism

So... little Haydn writes a report on a conference at which he spoke: he mentions no other speaker than himself, he tells us that he subsequently shared his his "testimony" to an enthralled audience, that recordings of his oratorial masterpiece will soon be available for purchase, that his presentation "was very worthwhile", and that not only were those attending greatly impressed, but that he was himself impressed by the degree to which they valued his insight. And his topic?

Narcissism.

Honestly - you couldn't invent a scenario that ironic. That he then chose to accompany his shameless self-promotion with a gloriously homoerotic illustration just adds to the wonder of that boy's hilarious lack of self-perception. Haydn Sennitt can be assured of a truly great 15 minutes of fame within the ex-gay movement. Already his contribution can only be described as "timeless".

Say Bill ...are all them homosexualists into narcissism...you know do they all have 100 lovers?

I don't know Calam...but I think the narcissism comes from being a male Sydney Anglican...you know...where you see women as subservient and on this earth to make Sydney Anglican men look like real men...and I tell you what Calam...that takes a bit of doing!

Aussie PM boycotts Australian Christian Lobby group's conference because Jim Wallace is offensive to gays ...and supportive of tobacco companies

Sydney Star Observer reports...Prime Minister Julia Gillard has pulled out of a speech at the Australian Christian Lobby’s National Conference next month after “offensive” claims by its leader that being gay was more harmful to people’s health than smoking.

Jim Wallace said, “I think we’re going to owe smokers a big apology when the homosexual community’s own statistics for its health – which it presents when it wants more money for health – are that is has higher rates of drug taking, of suicide, it has the life of a male reduced by up to 20 years... The life of smokers is reduced by something like seven to 10 years and yet we tell all our kids at school they shouldn’t smoke.”
Tasmanian Gay and Lesbian Rights Group spokesman Rodney Croome said Wallace was a bigger threat to gay health than any “lifestyle choice. Croome added...“Yes, there are health problems in parts of the gay and lesbian community, but they are caused by the prejudice of people like Mr Wallace and the discriminatory laws he defends. Croome also accused Wallace of using misleading and outdated research to back his claims.“Mr Wallace’s reference to gay life expectancy being 20 years shorter than the average comes from a survey of obituaries in San Francisco newspapers at the height of the AIDS crisis,” he said. “The quoting of irrelevant and biased studies to stigmatise gay Australians is a low and desperate tactic that diminishes Mr Wallace and his cause.”

Beyondblue CEO Kate Carnell today said that the claims made by the Wallace reinforce the necessity of beyondblue’s anti-discrimination campaign launched yesterday in Sydney.“Comments made yesterday by Mr Jim Wallace, acknowledging that gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and intersex people people have higher rates of substance use and suicide than the broader community show just how important and timely the campaign launch this week by beyondblue to reduce discrimination really is”

Ennis... I reckon it's like one of those comments suggested...if Jim Wallace promotes smoking... then there's the possibility, that a percentage of youngsters who become addicted, will be gay... and that will solve the problem for Christians...because the life expectancy of a young gay person will be reduced by 30 years!

Peter Jensen tells Channel 7 that the way to be real men and real women means that men have to die for their wives and women have to submit to their husbands.

Don't worry Betty...I fight to the death for you...Marge had no right to criticise you like that

Well I'm defending Marge's honour... Betty shouldn't have written such rubbish and published it

Well Ennis...I'm betting on the cock that subscribes to Standfirm!

Peter Jensen has told Seven News the controversial change in the wedding vows, which require a wife to 'submit', is necessary, so husbands can feel like 'real' men.
The Anglican Church says the controversial change is about getting husbands to step up the challenge of marriage because ...Peter Jensen says...In the bible its says men die for your wife if needed, it says wife, when your husband's like that, then submit to him. Acknowledge his responsibilities and let him be a man,

I don't know Bill...but I wouldn't want to be relying on one of them Sydney Anglicans males to come to my defence, if I was in trouble in a dark alley...I reckon they'd run a mile cause they're not used to the real world you know... anyway all them fellas have ever been good at is bullying women and gays!
Couldn't agree more Calam... I mean if Peter Bolt is anything to go by.... probably standby and tell the woman who was subject of gang rape by high profile footballers, that she deserved it...and then he'd probably help fund the defence case against her!
