that the Christian acceptance of gay marriage would be like the overthrow of slavery or the realization that the earth goes round the sun (Letters, April 8) ... with the logic of the ‘arrow of history’ not going the same way in each case.
He argues that slavery was once normal; the earth going round the sun was once thought to be scientifically very weak; and ‘homosexuality’was treated with a mixture of general acceptance and mild disdain. This all adds up to ignorant stupidity just like slavery, a flat Earth and homophobia!
